Your Application - Frequently Asked Questions
* How can I eliminate burning in my product?
A-C® 316A provides a lubricating layer at the interface of the Vinyl (PVC) melt and the die wall which reduces slip / stick melt flow which often associated with burning and other surface imperfections. A-C® 316A is a very efficient lubricant and is typically added at 0.1-0.3 PHR in PVC pipe extrusion and vinyl siding formulations.
* How can I maximize fusion without overworking my product?
A-C® 629A promotes fusion in rigid Vinyl compounds and also some external lubrication. A-C® 629A is combined with specially formulated internal and external lubricants in SmartPak™ lubricant one packs to provide the to provide the proper performance for the particular application.
* How can I reduce plateout on my dies?
Plate out can be the result of a number of problems in the PVC compound formulation. Rheolub™ lubricants are formulated to eliminate excess volatility, adjust the level of inorganic materials or modify process temperatures. One or all of these intervention can be effective in eliminating plate out.
* How can I get rid of spider lines on my pipe?
Spider lines can result from insufficient external lubrication in a formulation. Rheolub™ lubricants combine specialty paraffins and other hydrocarbon waxes to provide proper external lubrication while maintaining proper fusion speed.
* How can I make my pipe ID smoother?
Rough pipe ID can result from excessive melt temperature. Rheolub™ lubricants and Smart-Pak™ lubricant packages can be formulated to make a compound "run cooler" than with conventional lubricants while maintaining or improving operating rates and physical properties of the product.
* How can I increase the flexibility of my mixing system?
SmartPak™ lubricant packages combine several commonly used lubricants in one product. This provides the processor with the opportunity to use one hopper to charge paraffin, calcium stearate and oxidized polyethylene wax instead of three hoppers. Consequently, two hoppers are now free for charging additional ingredients for specialized compounds. Smart-Pak™ lubricant packages also provide increased consistency and reduce batch to batch variation.
* How can I reduce barrel and screw wear?
Excess wear can be the result of uneven fusion of the PVC compound or improper feeding of compound to the extruder. A-C® 316A provides excellent fusion promotion in a uniform and controlled manner. Rheolub™ lubricants can be formulated to allow flood feeding of the extruder which reduces the potential for metal to metal contact. Therefore, productivity of the extrusion process increases.
* How can I improve pigment dispersion in my product?
A-C® 316A is effective at improving dispersive mixing in the PVC melt. This results in better dispersion and more efficient usage of expensive pigments which results into less usage of costly material.
* How can I increase cold temperature impact resistance?
Special Rheolub™ lubricant formulations, used in combination with reduced levels of typical PVC impact modifiers have been shown to improve room temperature and cold temperature impact resistance. The active ingredients plasticize the compound enough to reduce brittleness without reducing tensile or flexural properties.
* How can I improve edge flow through my dies?
Newly developed specialty internal lubricants for Vinyl siding and profile applications in combination with other ingredients provide the internal and external lubrication necessary to fill increasingly complex dies.
*How can I increase compound flow through my plant?
Specialty Lubricants in the FLP 3500 series provide superior compound flow and lubrication in highly filled formulations.

Our Strengths - Frequently Asked Questions
*How can I evaluate alternative Vinyl formulations?
Honeywell's technical personnel will perform rheometric and other comparative evaluations on PVC formulations and recommend Rheochem™ lubricants that are most likely to help customers achieve their goals.
*Can Rheochem™ lubricants be modified to accommodate my process?
Rheochem lubricants are composed from a broad pallet of waxes and other materials which provides great flexibility in formulation and performance. Rheochem is capable of providing the optimum lubricants for any rigid PVC process.

Our Products - Frequently Asked Questions
*How does A-C® Polyethylene wax differ from Rheochem™ vinyl lubricants?
A-C Polyethylene wax is synthesized by polymerization of ethylene. After polymerization, some synthetic waxes are treated with oxygen (oxidized) to add chemically active sites. Rheochem™ vinyl lubricants are based on distillate wax which is isolated during a petroleum refining process. Many of the multifunctional Rheochem™ vinyl lubricant products contain A-C® polyethylene wax and distillate wax as well as many other materials.
*Is there any significance to the color of Rheochem lubricants?
Rheochem™ vinyl lubricants compositions range from single ingredients to a vast variety of combinations of many components. Single ingredients are usually white in color when solid and transparent when molten. Multifunctional lubricants may have many ingredients and undergo chemical reactions during manufacturing. This processing may tend to give the product a yellow color in solid and molten form. Because Rheochem™ vinyl lubricants are present in low concentrations in PVC formulations, the lubricant color has a negligible effect on the color of the Vinyl product.
